Prospects of graduates

A graduate of Dentistry study programme has an adequate knowledge of theoretical, preclinical and clinical disciplines of dentistry. He/she is able, under professional supervision of an experienced doctor, to assure healthcare on the relevant level of organizational structure,  he/she is also prepared to work in the primary healthcare, he/she masters the basic principles and organisation of healthcare system, basic medical legal norms needed for performance of the profession,  which give  him/her pre-conditions to acquire required qualification after completion of prescribed practice, post-graduate studies and exams.  Graduates can find a job in all facilities of the Ministry of Health of the SR, in public and private healthcare  facilities, in other positions  e.g. as a senior advisor in the insurance companies, a physician reviewer,  in management and organizational positions  in healthcare system, as well as in education. According to the valid legislation, automatic recognition of diploma in the EU countries is guaranteed to the graduates of  Dentistry study programme for preparation of regulated profession.

Conditions of admission

1) The basic condition for admission to the study of the combined 1st and 2nd degree in full-time form is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education and medical fitness for the exercise of a profession.

2) Another condition for admission to the combined first and second cycle full-time studies is passing the admission procedure, including the national comparative examination (in the case of applicants for the dentistry programme, also the manual dexterity examination).

3) The criterion for admission to the combined 1st and 2nd degree study in full-time form in the Slovak language is the total score in the admission procedure after passing the entrance examination, which will place the applicant among the maximum planned number of admitted applicants.

The total points gained in the admission procedure is the sum of the points from:

a) the National Comparative Examination (NCE)

b) performance during secondary school

c) other activities

(d) in the case of dentistry, the manual skills test (SMZ)

  • the Faculty requires electronic registration of the application form according to the instructions published on the Faculty's website www.jfmed.uniba.sk,
  • knowledge of the secondary school curriculum is required,
  • the faculty will send detailed information about the admission procedure in March 2023,
  • updated information is published at www.jfmed.uniba.sk under study-applicants-admissions
