Applied Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry
The graduates of the doctoral study programme Applied Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry are able to work independently and creatively in various fields of application of analytical chemistry, as well as in the border disciplines related to analytical chemistry, with particular preference given to analytical orientation in the direction of biological sciences related to chemistry, such as biochemistry, pharmaceutical and clinical chemistry, laboratory medicine, and biotechnology.
The graduates of the study programme:
are proficient in scientific approaches and research methodology in selected application areas of analytical chemistry,
are able to provide solutions using separation, electrochemical, spectral, magnetochemical, and possibly other instrumental methods (nuclear, thermal, etc.From the analytical point of view, graduates are usually more deeply specialized in some problem areas, such as analysis of components in multicomponent matrices, trace analysis, analysis of harmful substances in the environment, characterization and prediction of properties of new materials, etc. At the same time, graduates also contribute to obtaining decisions in areas beyond analytical chemistry, performing activities in various other areas of social practice, in quality assurance and quality management, in environmental monitoring, in pharmaceutical chemistry, in clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine, in the food industry and elsewhere. They have basic management skills, focused on the application of applied analytical chemistry and bioanalytical chemistry in practice, can lead a research team, plan team tasks and also have knowledge of relevant environmental, economic, legal and ethical aspects. On the basis of the knowledge acquired, graduates of the study programme are also qualified to teach specialised chemistry subjects at university.

The basic condition for admission to doctoral studies is a university education of the 2nd degree (Section 56 (3) of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts).
Graduates of domestic or foreign universities may apply for admission to the studies if they have completed a master's or engineering degree.
Additional information
The application form must include:
- university diploma officially certified (registry office/notary) in the same or related field and programme,
- state examination certificate officially certified (registry office/notary),
- brief curriculum vitae together with an inventory of published and unpublished works,
- outline project on the topic of the dissertation,
- proof of completed work experience (not compulsory),
- proof of payment of the admission fee.
A candidate who is a graduate of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the UCM in Trnava shall provide uncertified photocopies of the diploma and the state examination certificate.
Candidates apply for the listed topics, which are published on the faculty's website.
In the course of admission to doctoral studies, an admission interview will take place in the form of an interview, where the applicant presents his/her motives, project on the topic of the dissertation and prerequisites for the study, as well as knowledge of a foreign language. The candidate becomes a PhD student after successful completion of the selection procedure and after enrolment in the PhD programme on the basis of the admission decree of the Dean of the Faculty.
Conditions for international students
Admission conditions for international students are the same as for students from the Slovak Republic. The condition of admission to the study programme conducted in Slovak language is the knowledge of Slovak language at the level enabling the study in Slovak language.
Foreign applicants prove their knowledge of the language with a Certificate of Slovak language proficiency at the B2 level.
