Agrobiotechnology

Graduates are able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of broad issues concerning physico-chemical and biological aspects of life and utilization of living organisms and their parts for intensive production. The programme provides a basis for originality of their approach in methods and techniques of culture of mikroorganisms,somatic and reproductive cells, tissue and organ culture for purposes of development of economically useful bio-products and organisms with high utility traits and their specific uses. Graduates are prepared to creativaly utilize the acquired skulls as top-managers in agriculture and agrobiotechnology sector, state, private and public institutions, research and development institutions and others.

Agrobiotechnology sector requires specialists with an integrated orientation and application of a wide spectrum of technical know-how and skills relating to biological sciences with special emphasis on molecular biology, genetics, physiology and biochemistry. The study programme Agrobiotechnology aims to facilitate theoretical knowledge and practical tools for desired applications such as genetic manipulations in breeding programmes and for reproduction of economically important microorganisms, plants and animals for purposes of enhanced traits or offective production. Students receive in depth knowledge and adequate understanding of characterization of genomes and conservation of genetic resources, diagnostics of diseases, developing vaccines, improvement of feedstuffs, production of functional foods and bioremedation of environment.
