Psychology

The undergraduate psychology major focuses primarily on general psychological disciplines and the foundations of the supporting disciplines. The study concentrates on the acquisition of elementary psychological knowledge and competencies. The graduate of the bachelor's degree will acquire a comprehensive body of knowledge corresponding to the current knowledge of the psychological sciences and the state of psychological practice. The acquired knowledge entitles him/her to continue his/her studies in the second degree of the field, in a related field, or enables him/her to apply this knowledge in various areas of social life, in the social field, in public administration, social-charity, personnel management, education, etc. One of the key features of the graduate is his/her adaptability with regard to the changing contexts of psychological practice and the ability to quickly acquire new knowledge and skills. He/she is able to expand his/her knowledge and skills in his/her specialisation throughout his/her life. The BA in Psychology is conceived in the tradition of emphasizing the theoretical and methodological principles of psychology as a modern science, leading students to progressively identify with the mission of the psychologist as a representative of the people-helping profession, and, in addition, its graduate has the opportunity to study psychology on the basis of a Christian orientation.

Prospects of graduates

The main area of application of the graduate of the bachelor's degree programme in psychology is in the position of psychology assistant in work-functional positions with application in the areas of economic and social life. It also finds a similar application in the framework of work-functional positions in organizations of technical, economic, economic, engineering and commercial orientation, as well as in spheres of non-productive character (science and research, health, culture, social work, etc.). In the defined areas, he/she can work independently, in others he/she works as an organic part of a work team. The graduate may also continue his/her studies with a master's degree in the given or a related study programme.
