Mathematical and Computer Modelling

The study programme in Applied Mathematics provides students with quality interdisciplinary education and comprehensive knowledge in mathematics, computer science and engineering applications. Students acquire knowledge in numerical, statistical, optimization, graphical and visualization methods, which they are able to use to solve complex problems of engineering practice and in the creation of software for scientific and technical calculations. Graduates will find employment in interdisciplinary teams developing new technologies based on mathematical modelling and computer simulations.

Prospects of graduates

Graduates will acquire complete first-degree university education in the field of Applied mathematics focusing on computer modelling and analysis of Enginineering tasks. They will understand the modern methods of applied mathematics (numerical, statistical, optimising, graphic and visualisation methods and software), they will Master the work with computer (programming language, operating systems, computer networks, internet applications) and will be informed about the applications of the mathematical and computer modelling in science and technology. They will be able to work mainly in areas that use mathematical methods and computer analysis to solve practical tasks, such as civil Enginineering, electrotechnical, mechanical Enginineering, bioEnginineering, geodesy, informatics, computer graphics, image processing, statistical data analysis, as well as in some of the economic and financial applications. They will find realisation mainly in companies and teams focusing on mathematical and computer analysis of Enginineering tasks and on software development in the area of Enginineering calculations and simulations when applying modern numerical, statistical, optimising and visualisation methods.
