Management

The management study programme offers a comprehensive study in economics and management, allowing students in the 3rd year of the Bachelor's degree to choose specialisations focusing on Human Resource Management, Brand Management, Finance, Financial Analytics, Data Analytics, Managerial Informatics, Management of Information and Communication Technologies, Accounting, Entrepreneurship or Marketing.

The Bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Management of the UK is a first cycle undergraduate degree and is completed by a state examination. During the bachelor's degree, students acquire basic knowledge in individual areas of management and related disciplines, which will enable them to apply in practice or to continue their studies at the master's level.

The total scope of the Bachelor's study is at least 180 ECTS credits. Within the management study programme, students choose a specialisation, which is made up of a block of compulsory elective subjects, and can thus acquire deeper knowledge in a specific area of management and thus better prepare for the demands of practice. Based on the intention that a bachelor's graduate should be competitive on the labour market, the faculty allows students to focus more on a selected functional area of management.

Prospects of graduates

During the bachelor's studies students will acquire basic knowledge in individual areas of management and related disciplines, which will enable them to apply in practice in managerial positions at all levels of management in the organization or to continue in the master's studies.

A graduate of the Accounting block of study will find employment in managerial and methodological accounting functions, in financial decision-making and financial control.

Finance graduates are able to apply theoretical knowledge in practical solutions, have comprehensive knowledge of modern financial theories, understand methods of analysis and forecasting in finance and currency, in solving financial policy tasks.

Graduates of the Personnel Management block of study will gain skills in the development of interpersonal management skills in leading and motivating knowledge workers and workers working in a flexible form of work organization; a general overview of the existence of different types of organizational structures and practical experience in solving case studies; gaining experience in solving different types of problems as well as active practice in the use of a range of creative techniques that students will be able to use in their personal and professional lives in the future; skills related to human resource management in small and medium-sized organisations: deploying the workforce, knowing and adapting the issues of employee relations in a small organization, effective management of subordinates, their motivation, as working in teams cannot be done without knowledge of personality, the laws of functioning of teams, nor without basic social skills.

A graduate of the Marketing block of study will gain a conceptual basis for understanding the role of marketing in the business environment.

The graduates of the Entrepreneurship block of study will gain key knowledge, experience, entrepreneurial skills, as well as insights from the establishment of startups and management of small companies and forms of support available in Slovakia through experiential learning, problem solving from practice, as well as lectures from startups and established entrepreneurs.

Graduates of the ICT Project Management study block will be able to create a project management plan and manage its entire implementation, they will be proficient in complex project management.

The graduates of the Management Informatics study block will acquire knowledge and skills especially in the field of IS/IT. He/she will find employment as a worker of IS/IT company departments, whose main task will be information support of the decisions of the top management of the company, especially the analysis of information flows necessary for the management of the company, design and implementation of information systems in economic practice. It can also be applied as a system integrator or as a manager of IS/IT departments, obtaining a sufficient theoretical basis for further study of the follow-up master's degree. The study develops students' ability to approach the design and implementation of enterprise information systems in a creative way.

Conditions of admission

Criteria for admission of applicants to FM UK in Bratislava are developed in accordance with Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education as amended and the rules of the admission procedure at the University of Bratislava.

The basic condition for admission to the university is obtaining a complete secondary or complete secondary vocational education. An applicant who fails to demonstrate fulfilment of the basic admission requirements at the time of verification of fulfilment of the admission requirements may be admitted conditionally, provided that he or she is required to demonstrate fulfilment of the basic admission requirements no later than the date set for enrolment. The right of an applicant who has been admitted conditionally to the study shall be terminated if he or she fails to prove fulfilment of the basic conditions for admission no later than the date set for enrolment.

For the bachelor's degree programme in management in the field of economics and management conducted in the Slovak language, applicants citizens of the Slovak Republic will be admitted according to the following rules:

Admission examination for study programmes in the Slovak language is written, is in the Slovak language, and is compulsory without exception for any applicant who fails to meet the conditions of admission without an admission examination in accordance with the applicable rules.

For applicants to the Management degree programme, the exam consists of two parts: a exam in mathematics and a exam in English.

Student candidates who have successfully passed the mathematics matriculation examination gain 30 points in addition to the number of points achieved in the mathematics examination.



Additional information

The application is submitted electronically via the AIS2 system or the UK Electronic Application Portal or the faculty electronic application form. In the event that it is not possible to submit an electronic application, it is also possible to submit a paper application. The signed application form together with the required attachments should be delivered to the faculty address by 31 March 2023.

In the application form, the applicant shall indicate which study programmes he/she is interested in, in the order of their importance (max. 2 study programmes in the same language of study).

A candidate for a study programme taught in English must submit a separate application for this study programme and take an entrance examination in accordance with the conditions set for the study programme.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

Without the obligation to take an entrance examination, those applicants for study in study programmes accredited and offered by the faculty who:

a) in the current school year, or in the previous school year, passed the external part of the matriculation examination in mathematics at a secondary school in Slovakia and achieved a percentile of at least 50, and at the same time passed the external part of the matriculation examination in a foreign language (languages of which the entrance examination consists, according to point 6.) and achieved a percentile of at least 60. The requirement for the external part of the final examination in a foreign language may be replaced by a B2 level certificate (e.g. English: Cambridge First Certificate, TOEFL 87-109; German: Mittelstufe Deutsch; French: DELF)

b) provide evidence of a grade point average for the whole of their secondary school studies in mathematics and a foreign language (the languages of which the entrance examination consists, as referred to in point 6.) of up to 1.5 from the end-of-year report cards, in the case of the final year from the half-year report card (in the case of eight-year grammar schools only for the last four years), provided that they have studied each of these subjects for at least three years in a Slovak or Czech secondary school

c) have been successful at least once in the last three years in a regional round or in a national round of a secondary school Olympiad (organised at national level), in the case of applicants studying at a Slovak or Czech secondary school.



Coordinator for students with specific needs

An applicant with specific needs who requires reasonable adjustments and support services for the entrance examination shall send, together with the application for studies, a request for adaptation of the form of the entrance examination specifying the required adjustments and support services, accompanied by the relevant professional documentation. The consent of the person concerned to the processing of the personal data contained in the application form shall form an integral part of the application form of the applicant with special needs.
