Laboratory Testing Methods in Health Care
The aim of the study is to prepare graduates to solve the most complex problems of laboratory medicine, which requires the acquisition of comprehensive knowledge and necessary skills in basic medical subjects, the basics of pathology and preclinical disciplines, laboratory examination methods used in medicine, the basics of clinical disciplines, the basics of the application of laboratory methods in therapeutic and preventive activities, the subjects necessary for the evaluation of the results obtained by the output of laboratory and clinical methods as well as computer technology.
Prospects of graduates
Working in laboratory medicine departments (clinical biochemistry, haematology and transfusiology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, toxicology, pathological anatomy, clinical pharmacology, functional diagnostics as well as in related diagnostic fields e.g. forensic laboratories, etc.) Graduates are able to work effectively as members of a research team, organise their own training and keep in touch with developments in their field, as well as apply ethical principles in their practice.

The admission requirement is the completion of the first level of the university study programme Laboratory Investigation Methods in Health Care. An applicant who has completed the first cycle of higher education abroad must submit a decision on the equivalence of education and transfer of grades issued by the Ministry of Education and Science. The applicant must submit a certificate of medical fitness in accordance with the criteria required for health professions. The condition for admission to the M.Sc. studies is a matriculation in the Slovak language.
The admission procedure consists of a written test on the principles of laboratory methods in health care and the basics of the core subjects of laboratory medicine (histology, haematology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology and genetics). The admission procedure also takes into account non-specific assessments: participation in the SVOČ, in projects, in competitions.
Methodology of the admission procedure assessment:
1. Passing the test with 90 points out of the maximum 120 points
2. 2 points for each non-specific activity.

Applicants who will graduate in the academic year
2022/2023 will submit a certificate of attendance and a transcript of results
of studies for the closed period
4. confirmation of medical fitness to study in the health
discipline, including confirmation of vaccination against Hepatitis.
5. Evidence of participation in the SOT, certificate in AJ, or diplomas for sports or cultural activity.
Electronic application form must be accompanied by a hard copy application form with signature.
If an applicant fails to complete the required parts of the application form within the stipulated time after being asked to complete the missing parts of the application form, he/she shall be disqualified from admission. The admission fee will not be refunded.
Conditions for international students
Foreign applicants will take a test in Slovak language to check their communication skills in Slovak language at B1 level. An acceptable alternative to the Slovak language matriculation/exam is the Czech language matriculation. Proof of vaccination against Hepatitis is a condition of admission to the study.
If the student has obtained the first degree abroad, he/she is obliged to submit the proof of equivalence of the first degree in the relevant field.
