History
By completion of the study programme history, the student gains a global overview of general (world) history and national (Slovak) history, of the basic methods and methodologies of history study and auxiliary historical sciences. One of the key features of the graduates is their adaptability with respect to the changing contexts of work and ability to acquire new knowledge and skills fast. The purpose is to educate independent and well-oriented historians prepared to operate in the sphere of science and research, as well as in scientific-pedagogic institutions (Slovak Academy of Science, universities, cultural-social facilities focused on organisational, promotion and public education activities (publishing houses, agencies, associations) and also in specialised state administration bodies (protection of cultural heritage).
Prospects of graduates
The graduates can also work as a qualified specialist in school institutions, or in museums, archives, non-governmental organisations or other cultural-social facilities and scientific institutions upon development of professional and scientific work. They must have the ability to adapt to the changing labour market conditions, follow the trends of research and work in a collective. Last but not least they are offered the possibility to continue in further education at the third level - Doctoral level.

The basic condition of admission for the study in the second level study programme (Master study programme) is completion of the first level study programme (Bachelor study programme). Other admission conditions for the Master study programme are: obligation to respect the catholic spirit of the university and faculty; teacher study programme (teaching subjects in respective combinations): the final order of applicants will be created based on the weighted study result average during the Bachelor study and the results of the state exam (in total 100 points with the following internal breakdown: weighted study result average - max. 80 points, results of the state exam - max. 20 points); study programme philosophy: presentation of the diploma work project (to be sent together with the application) - maximum number of acquired points 100 (it is necessary to gain at least 60 points for admission); study programme history: presentation of the diploma work project (it shall be submitted not later than 7 days prior to the date of the entrance exams) - maximum number of acquired points is 100 (it is necessary to gain at least 60 points for admission); entrance exam (in total 100 points). If the admission procedure involves an entrance exam for the given study programme, it shall take place in June 2010. If a larger number of applicants meet the admission conditions for study of the given study programme, only those applicants will be admitted who presented by the highest rate of study capability according to the study admission conditions.

It is required to enclose the following to the application: structured CV, verified copies of documents on study completion (Bachelor diploma, state exam certificate, addendum to the diploma, and weighted study result average of the applicant confirmed by the Study Department) - in case of applicants that did not complete the Bachelor study programme at the FA of CU in Ružomberok and in case of applicants that completed the Bachelor study programme at the FA of CU in Ružomberok before the academic year of 2009/2010, in case of applicants who completed the first level of university education abroad, also the decision of recognition of a foreign document on education for academic purposes (continued study in the Slovak Republic - for more information see the website of the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic http://minedu.sk part recognition of education documents). In case of not sending the verified copies of documents on study completion by the given deadline (information on the deadline for delivery of the documents will be sent to the enrolled applicants together with the confirmation on application registration), the enrolled applicant will be considered as an applicant that did not meet the admission conditions for the study. The verified copies of a documents shall be addressed to the Study Department and sent to the following address: Catholic University in Ružomberok, Faculty of Arts, Study Department, Hrabovská cesta 1, 034 01 Ružomberok. It is necessary to paste the fee payment slip on the third page of the application (without the payment slip the application will not be registered). The admission procedure fee shall not be returned. Confirmation of application registration together with the information on the following process in the admission procedure will be sent to the applicants by electronic or classical mail. The deadline for meeting the admission conditions for the study: 23. June, 2010. The written decision on the admission procedure result will be sent to the applicants within 30 days as of verification of meeting the admission conditions for the study. The written decision is delivered by strictly private delivery to the applicants. The basic rules of the admission procedure for the study programmes at the FA of the CU for the academic year of 2010/2011 are published on the faculty website (http://ff.ku.sk).
