Philosophy

By completing the study programme, the student acquires knowledge of deeper issues covering particular areas of philosophical thought, as well as specialised knowledge of one of the areas of philosophy. The student acquires knowledge of the applied disciplines of ethics, aesthetics, philosophy of law, and political philosophy. Has a deeper mastery of the conceptual and categorical apparatus of philosophy and other social sciences; has a more detailed knowledge of the main trends, figures and issues in the history of philosophy, which he or she acquires through critical analysis and comparison of the concepts of individual systems, figures and schools; has a deeper knowledge of the various areas of contemporary philosophy, as well as an overview of the procedures for solving theoretical problems in the subject areas of philosophy; can work independently with sources and analyse and interpret philosophical, legal, psychological texts, sociological analyses, economic trends. Can work independently in a professional and scientific manner in the field of philosophy and social sciences; can identify and critically reflect on current socio-practical problems and look for ways to solve them.



Prospects of graduates

The graduate is able to perform the corresponding activities of the team, or. independent creative (conceptual) worker in the following institutions and facilities: social science-oriented research organizations and institutions, educational institutions of non-university type, educational institutions of university type - university teacher, governmental and non-governmental humanities-oriented institutions and organizations, organizations and institutions of the third sector, institutions engaged in empirical identification of the state of society, cultural and social institutions, foundations, civic associations, editors of professional and social science journals, publishing houses of professional (social science) literature, political institutions, state administration (the field of "human resources"), mass media, management.

Conditions of admission

Conditions for admission to study for the study programmes PHILOSOPHY, HISTORY, JOURNALISM, TEACHING SUBJECTS IN COMBINATION and INTERMEDICAL STUDIES

  • graduation from a first (Bachelor's degree programme) or second (Master's degree programme) degree programme;
  • graduation from a first (Bachelor's degree programme) or second (Master's degree programme) degree programme
  • for the study programme Teaching of subjects in combination completion of the study programme of the first (bachelor's study programme) or second degree (master's study programme) in the study field 38. teaching and pedagogical sciences;
  • commitment to respect the Catholic spirit of the university and the faculty;
  • in the case of applicants to the study programme TeACHING SLOVAK LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE IN COMBINATION, who have obtained secondary education and/or first degree (B.Sc.) outside the Slovak Republic, it is necessary to prove the level of proficiency in the Slovak language (according to the Common European Framework of Reference) - at least at the B2 level;

The final ranking of applicants will be based on the average calculated from the result of the state examination and the weighted study average during the bachelor's studies. When ranking candidates for interdisciplinary studies and teacher training programmes, the resulting ranking of candidates is produced separately for each subject combination.



Additional information

The faculty also reserves the right not to open a study programme to which a low number of candidates applies. In this case, the application forms with all attachments as well as the admission fee will be returned to the applicant.

Handicapped applicants may request that the form and manner of the entrance examination be determined taking into account their handicap (written request to be sent together with the application form).

General information on the admission exam

The application must be accompanied by:

a) certified copies of documents of graduation (bachelor's diploma, diploma supplement and state examination certificate), if it concerns applicants who did not complete the bachelor's study programme at the Faculty of Arts KU in Ružomberok,

b) due to an exceptional situation, applicants for studies may submit an electronic application form without the need to print it, sign it and send it to the faculty's postal address. If they choose to submit the application by post, the application form with attachments should be sent to the address of the study department.

c) in the case of applicants who have obtained their higher education abroad (outside the Czech Republic), it is necessary to submit a decision on the recognition of the foreign document of education no later than the day of enrolment,

d) confirmation of payment of the fee, in the case of a traditional paper application, to be pasted on the 3rd page of the application form, in the case of an electronic application, to be sent as an electronic attachment. Without proof of payment, the application will not be registered.

Acknowledgement of the registration of the application and information about the further process in the admission procedure will be sent to the applicants by electronic or conventional mail.

Deadline for verification of fulfilment of admission requirements: no later than 30 August 2021

A written decision on the outcome of the admission procedure will be sent to applicants no later than 30 days after the verification of the fulfilment of the admission requirements. The written decision shall be delivered to the applicants by hand.
