Safety and food control
The graduate is familiar with the general hygiene requirements for the conditions that must be met by food processing enterprises, warehouses and stores, special hygiene requirements for the hygiene of production of individual foods, hygiene of storage, transport and sale of foodstuffs. He also knows the basic legislative requirements in terms of food legislation of the Slovak Republic and the EU, the HACCP system, sanitation programme, metrology programme, ISO standards, quality and food safety standards, epidemiology and prevention of alimentary diseases and food allergies and the principles of good hygiene practice.
Prospects of graduates
Graduates will be employed in food processing companies, in food sales and distribution as hygiene and sanitation managers, risk management managers or food control managers. They will also find employment in companies dealing with sanitation and extermination in the food industry, in consulting and advisory firms dealing with HACCP systems, implementation of ISO standards, application of legislation and standards of food quality and safety and food safety management systems. Other applications are in food education, food research, private educational establishments and consultancy and advisory centres, accredited laboratories, corporate laboratories and corporate control.

1. The admission procedure for the first degree of study at the FBP SPU in Nitra is carried out according to §55, §56, §57 and §58 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education, in accordance with the Study Regulations of the SPU in Nitra and the Statute of the FBP SPU in Nitra.
2. The basic condition for admission to the Bachelor's degree programme is the acquisition of complete secondary education or complete secondary vocational education.
3. The admission condition is the attainment of 18 years of age by the date of enrolment.
Additional information
The main mission of the faculty is to prepare qualified, university-educated professionals oriented to knowledge and mastery of the latest knowledge of biological sciences focused on modern methods of production, evaluation and processing of food and specific products of biotechnology. The aim is to achieve biological and technological integrity of the system from the agricultural product to the food. In the course of the study, the student will acquire the knowledge for the production and evaluation of high quality and safe foodstuffs.
Students can be accommodated in the study homes A.Bernoláka, Mladosť and Akademická. Students eat in the canteen of the Youth and A. Bernoláka schools.
Conditions for international students
Foreign applicants are admitted under the same conditions as citizens of the Slovak Republic. They can apply for studies at the FBP SPU in Nitra after successful completion of the Slovak language studies and a certificate of successful completion (for self-paying students + concluded contract).
Applicants who have graduated abroad are obliged to submit:
- certificate of equivalence of the educational document - submitted by the applicant if the document was issued by a foreign school of a state with which a treaty on mutual recognition of equivalence of educational documents has been concluded (Czech Republic, Republic of Croatia, Republic of Hungary, Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of Poland, Romania) or a decision on recognition of the validity of the document (nostrification) - if the educational document was issued by a foreign school of the other states. issues the certificate of equivalence of the educational document or the decision on recognition of the validity of the educational document.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam
Applicants will be admitted according to their position on a computerised waiting list based on their results in the matriculation examination. Preference will be given to applicants who have taken chemistry and biology during their secondary school studies. When the planned number of students for a given study programme is reached, the Dean may accept additional applicants in the order of eligibility for another study programme of the Faculty. After the admission procedure, the applicant will receive only one statement of acceptance or non-acceptance for all the study programmes to which he/she has applied.

- Secondary school graduates apply for (Level I) bachelor's degree programmes.
- Two faculty programs of study may be listed on one application - in order of interest in those programs (only one fee is paid, which is non-refundable).
- A certified copy of the matriculation certificate must be sent by post to the Department of Studies and Education, FBP.
- In addition to the application form, it is mandatory to attach electronically in pdf - medical fitness for university studies from a doctor, proof of payment of the admission fee and a curriculum vitae.
- After successful completion of the bachelor's degree, students may continue their engineering studies in any of the above study programmes.
- After the electronic application has been registered, a decision on conditional admission will be sent electronically to the applicant's e-mail address.
- Accepted applicant will receive the admission decree upon receipt of the officially certified matriculation certificate.
Form of entrance exam
The admission procedure will take place without the personal participation of the applicant.
A certified copy of the matriculation certificate shall be delivered by post to the address of the Department for Studies and Education of the FBP SPU in Nitra by 16 June 2023 (1st round of the admission procedure) or by 28 July 2023 (2nd round of the admission procedure), or for justified reasons also on the date set for enrolment in the study.
Foreign applicants shall send all required certified documents by post.
